Midsummer: A Banquet, a new environmental adaptation of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream that serves audiences an eight-course tasting menu during the performance, begins previews July 16 at Café Fae.
Directed by Then She Fell co-creator-director Zach Morris, Midsummer: A Banquet takes a page from the royal wedding for Theseus and Hippolyta, serving audiences a multi-course tasting menu spanning the royal rehearsal dinner to the celebratory wedding feast. Emilie Baltz creates the menu.
Food of Love and Third Rail Projects co-produce the production that officially opens July 24 for a run through September 8. The creative team previously presented Shake & Bake: Love’s Labour’s Lost for an extended Off-Broadway run last season.
The cast features Caroline Amos as Hermia/Snug/Fairy, Joshua Gonzales as Demetrius/Snout/Fairy, Charles Osborne as Bottom/Egeus/Fairy, Adrienne Paquin as Helena/Quince/Fairy, Victoria Rae Sook as Titania/Hippolyta, Lauren Walker as Robin Goodfellow/Philostrate/Straveling, and Ryan Wuestewald as Oberon/Theseus. Understudies are Cassie Gilling and Brendan Sokler.
Midsummer: A Banquet has set design by Jason Simms, costume design by Tyler M. Holland, lighting design by Deborah Constantine, and original music and sound design by Sean Hagerty.
