As The Marvelous Wonderettes prepares to celebrate its two-year anniversary Off-Broadway, the show will welcome Emmy winner Kristen Alderson in the role of Cindy Lou April 18. The revival of the 1950's-set high school musical comedy will celebrate two years at New York’s Theatre Row April 28.
“I am beyond excited to be joining the extremely talented cast of The Marvelous Wonderettes,” commented Alderson in a statement. “I’ve always had a huge passion for theatre and I’m so grateful that I get to be on stage again!”
Alderson is known for her 15-year portrayal of Starr Manning on the ABC's One Life to Live. She also originated the role of Kiki Jerome on General Hospital, and played Molly in the first Broadway revival of Annie.
Alderson joins current cast members Meg Lanzarone, Michelle Dowdy, Brie Cassil, and Amy Hilner Larsen.
The Marvelous Wonderettes, produced by Tom and Michael D’Angora, officially opened April 28, 2016. Created, written and originally directed by Roger Bean, the show is a musical trip down memory lane to the 1958 Springfield High School prom. There, we meet The Wonderettes, four girls whose hopes and dreams are recounted through 20 chart-topping hits of the era.
Tickets can be purchased at The Theatre Row box office, located at 410 West 42nd Street, Manhattan, or through Telecharge.com.
