Greene, who co-stars with Steven Webb, Ashleigh Gray and newcomer Benedict Salter, plays three roles – The Enchantress, Princess and Nymph Queen, who are identical triplets in the show. Set in modern day New York, writer Bailey - suffering writer's block - and his roommate Cooper Fitzgerald are catapulted head first into a strange enchanted world. Their arrival fulfils a prophecy that tells of a brave hero and a great queen and they are tasked with searching out a fading daytime TV star who is the only hope for saving a pregnant princess from losing the throne.
In a press statement, producer Christopher D. Clegg previously commented, "We are looking forward to working with Ellen and have her create a role (or three!) in Betwixt! To have Ellen returning to her musical theatre roots is exciting for the entire creative team, and we are looking forward to having her fabulous presence and unmistakable voice back on the West End stage."
Greene was last seen in London at the New Players Theatre in her cabaret show Torch!, accompanied by Christian Klikovits; she previously originated the role of Audrey in Cameron Mackintosh's West End transfer of Little Shop of Horrors to the Comedy Theatre. Other theatre credits include The Prince and the Aviator with Michael York, Three Men on a Horse, The Threepenny Opera and a concert version of Guys and Dolls at LA's Hollywood Bowl. On TV she has played Sylar's mother Virginia Grey in "Heroes" and Vivian in two series of "Pushing Daisies."
Betwixt! is written and directed by Ian McFarlane, with choreography by Grace Harrington and musical direction by Ross Leadbeater.
