Constance Wu, Kumail Nanjiani, and Alfred Molina have joined Calista Flockhart and Melissa Benoist for the October 1 staged reading of Terms of Endearment, presented as a benefit for Stand Up to Cancer and Geffen Playhouse’s New Play Development Program.
Gordon Greenberg will direct James L. Brooks’ screenplay for the Oscar-winning film. The cast will include Flockhart as Aurora Greenway, Benoist as Emma Greenway, Chris Wood as Flap Horton, Molina as Garrett Breedlove, Wu as Patsy, Nanjiani as Sam Vurns, Kate Burton as Dr. Maise (and other roles), Willie Garson as Vernan (and other roles), Italia Ricci as Doris (and other roles).
Terms of Endearment, which won five Academy Awards in 1984 including Best Picture, featured Shirley MacLaine, Debra Winger, Jack Nicholson, Danny DeVito, and John Lithgow. (Dan Gordon also penned a stage version based on Larry McMurty's original novel and Brooks' screenplay.)
