Sharon Wheatley, who plays Diane in the Tony-nominated Broadway production of Come From Away, wed her partner, stage manager Martha Donaldson, in a ceremony in New York City on April 16, the New York Times reported.
The two met during the run of Come From Away in San Diego in 2015, where Wheatley was performing and Donaldson worked as a production stage manager, though they did not begin dating until later.
Last year, it was Wheatley’s youngest daughter Beatrix who proposed to Donaldson by getting down on one knee and asking if Donaldson would be her stepmother.
This spring Wheatley began performances of Come From Away on Broadway, while Donaldson began work backstage at the Belasco Theatre as the production stage manager for The Glass Menagerie.
Their wedding ceremony in April was officiated by Tony-winning actor B.D. Wong in the Duke Ellington Room at Manhattan Plaza in New York.
Wheatley’s Broadway credits include Avenue Q, Cats, The Phantom of the Opera, Les Misérables, and The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas. Donaldson’s include The Crucible, A View from the Bridge, You Can't Take it With You, and Next to Normal, among others.
