Leonard Gershe's gentle 1969 romantic comedy about a blind songwriter's love affair with a high-spirited young actress is celebrating its 30th birthday at the Matrix Theatre in a production running through Sept. Richard Hochberg is the director.
Christopher Jaymes plays the sightless musician, Cindy Baer the attractive girl next door. Randee Heller plays Jaymes' over-protective mother.
Heller's busy career on Broadway includes Grease and Godspell. She has guest-starred in a hundred-odd TV episodes and, as a regular on "Soap," played prime-time's first prominent lesbian character. Jaymes is a familiar actor at South Coast Rep in Costa Mesa.
Hochberg recently returned from a summer of directing at the Idaho Shakespeare Festival.
