Kenita Miller, who is currently featured in the Broadway revival of Once On This Island, will join fellow Broadway performers Emily Skinner, Karen Ziemba, and Margo Seibert in celebrating “the great women writers of the American songbook” January 17 in a pair of concerts titled Baby, Dream Your Dream at Feinstein’s/54 Below in New York City.
The concert’s title comes from a song by lyricist Dorothy Fields from her show Sweet Charity. Other women songwriters who will be saluted include Mary Rodgers (Once Upon a Mattress), Jeanine Tesori (Thoroughly Modern Millie, Fun Home), Betty Comden (Peter Pan, Bells Are Ringing, On the Town, The Will Rogers Follies), and Marilyn Bergman (Ballroom).
The revue is being created, hosted, and scripted by Deborah Grace Winer, former artistic director of 92nd Street Y’s Lyrics & Lyricists series. Mark Waldrop will direct. Kenita, Skinner, and Seibert took part in a similar concert for Winer in March 2017 at the 92nd Street Y.
There will be two performances, at 7 and 9:30 PM. Feinstein’s/54 Below is located at 254 West 54th Street, beneath Studio 54, in Manhattan. Tickets, which cost $35 to $80 (plus a $25 food/drink minimum), can be ordered here. Tickets on the day of performance after 4 PM are available only by calling (646) 476-3551.
