Torn stars as the legendary poet and author in this new work, which was written and directed by Paul Alexander. Edge will play a limited 11-week engagement at the new theatre located on Union Square East. Edge will have an official opening July 21 and will run through Sept. 20.

Alexander's play is set in London on the last day of Plath's life (Feb. 11, 1963) as she reflects on her life, including her early years in Massachusetts, her time at Smith College and her suicide attempt in 1953; the latter was the subject of her autobiographical novel, "The Bell Jar." Edge also focuses on her two children, her love/hate relationship with poet Ted Hughes and the events that led to her death.

Gabrielle Hammil has designed the costumes for Edge, which is being produced by Daryl Roth. Lighting design was created by Joe Levasseur and sound design by Dennis Keefe.

Angelica Torn, daughter of Geraldine Page and Rip Torn, and brother of Tony, starred in the New York, London and Washington productions of Side Man, for which she received the People's Choice Award and a Helen Hayes Award. Torn's other theatrical credits include Vivat Vivat Regina, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, The Miracle Worker, Still Living, The Red Devil Battery Sign, Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, Miss Julie, In the Show of the Glen and Strangers in the Land of Canaan.
