Andrew Zerman, a former Broadway casting director at Johnson, Liff and Zerman, who worked on the original Broadway runs of Les Misérables, Cats, and The Phantom of the Opera, died peacefully in his sleep January 6 at age 62.
His sister, Lenore Zerman, confirmed news of his passing.
In addition to his work as a Broadway casting director, Zerman also coached young musical theatre talent, imparting his years of experience to novice singers starting to make their way.
Zerman was born May 6, 1956. A graduate of the University of Michigan, Zerman is survived by his sister and brother, Lenore and Jared; nephews and nieces Mitchell and Adam Zerman, Gemma and Gillian Balk, and Sandy and Samantha Richardson. He is predeceased by his parents, Miriam and Melvyn Zerman.
