Written by Leora Kalish, the film centers on a Republican Senate candidate (Robert Clohessy), whose piano-teacher wife forms her own female rock band on a dare. Ripley, who has performed her own music at such venues as 54 Below, will incorporate her own original material into the film.
Shari Berman will direct the film that will begin shooting in summer 2014.
Ripley recently played the role of religious fanatic Margaret White in the cult-favorite musical Carrie in Seattle. She earned a Tony Award for her work in Next to Normal. She has also appeared on Broadway in Side Show, The Rocky Horror Show, James Joyce's The Dead, Sunset Boulevard and The Who's Tommy.
