The New York premiere of Philip Ridley's The Pitchfork Disney, the most recent fare from The Blue Light Theatre company, will now officially open April 8.

Originally due to open April 1, Disney's schedule was pushed back when actor Gabriel Macht got word that he'd been cast in the latest Steven Spielberg project and had to leave for work March 27, according to a production spokesman. Macht has been replaced by Alex Kilgore, who joined the cast the last weekend in March.

The Blue Light production began previews March 19 at the downtown theatre space HERE. Rob Bundy directs a cast including Alex Draper, Lynn Hawley, Brandt Johnson and Gabriel Macht. George Xenos provides the sets. Pitchfork will maintain its original end date, April 23.

Best known for the screenplay of the 1990 hit movie "The Krays," which he also directed, Ridley has written numerous novels for adults and for children, as well as a few other plays. His The Fastest Clock in the Universe was produced by the New Group Off Broadway last year.

The Pitchfork Disney depicts eerily antisocial twins, 28-year-olds who subsist on chocolate and sleeping pills while sequestering themselves in their London flat. When they open their door to a larger than-life cabaret performer and his grotesquely disfigured assistant, their fear of the outside world does, in fact, come to fruition. Pitchfork Disney gets its title from the two cabaret entertainers, who are improbably named Cosmo Disney and Pitchfork Cavalier. The play had its U.S. premiere in 1995 at Washington, D.C.'s Woolly Mammoth Theatre, after premiering at London's Bush Theatre in 1991.

Past Blue Light productions include: Tom Stoppard's Dogg's Hamlet, Cahoot's Macbeth and his adaptation of Chekhov's The Seagull, Odets' Golden Boy and Waiting for Lefty, Howard Barker's Scenes From an Execution, Robert Louis Stevenson's Treasure Island, Shakespeare's Two Gentlemen of Verona, Eduardo DeFilippo's Filumena, Michael Cristofer's Amazing Grace, and Dare Clubb's Oedipus.
