Recipients of the 21st annual awards were announced in 24 of this year's 32 media categories. Additional media awards from The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) will be presented in Los Angeles on April 17 at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza, and in San Francisco on June 5 at the Westin St. Francis.
Tony Award winner Nixon (Rabbit Hole, "Sex and the City") earned the Vito Russo Award; talk-show host Joy Behar earned the Excellence in Media Award; TV's "Brothers & Sisters" won in the Outstanding Drama Series category (Next Fall playwright and "B&S" TV writer Geoffrey Nauffts accepted the award); the Broadway production of Hair earned a Special Recognition Award; former theatre critic Frank Rich, of The New York Times, won for Outstanding Newspaper Columnist; the award for Outstanding New York Theater: Broadway & Off–Broadway went to A Boy and His Soul by Colman Domingo; and She Like Girls by Chisa Hutchinson won in the category of Outstanding New York Theater: Off-Off Broadway.
