Alfred Uhry, already an Oscar winner for the film version of his Off Broadway play, Driving Miss Daisy, has won a Best Book Tony Award for Parade.
Like Daisy, Parade is set in and around Atlanta. Uhry drew on the historic case of Leo Frank's lynching to tell of anti-Semitism in the 50 years since the Civil War.
Uhry's other works include The Last Night of Ballyhoo and The Robber Bridegroom, and screenplays for "Mystic Pizza," "Driving Miss Daisy" and "Rich in Love."
Driving Miss Daisy won the 1988 Pulitzer Prize for Drama.
