SEEKING:
MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR.– male-identifying; 39 years old, African-American. Charming and melodic in nature with a sense of humor and stature. Troubled but sincere. A leader with a childlike sense of play. Capable of bound and free flow play (physically).

CAMAE – female-identifying; mid-20s to early 30s; African-American. A strong sense of humor, poetry, and comedic timing who can hold her own with Dr. King. Has depth and a pain within alongside a sense of physical comedy and expression.

SILENT SKY
by Lauren Gunderson
Directed by Melinda Pfundstein
Eileen and Alan Anes Studio Theatre
Contract Dates: June 10 – October 5, 2024

SEEKING:
HENRIETTA LEAVITT– female-identifying; 30s. Any race/ethnicity. Henrietta is grounded in strength, intellect, and the grace of knowing her contribution in the world, with the ability to crack open and express herself in a raw and authentic way. The play covers a span of 20 years, so this role requires both the wide-eyed naivete of youth and the wisdom and groundedness of maturity. Simple piano ability is a plus, but not required.

MARGARET LEAVITT – female-identifying; 30s. Henrietta’s younger sister. Any race/ethnicity. A homebody with depth and wisdom who serves as a balance to her sister. They fight like siblings do, but Margi is very kind and caring. Ability to play the piano is a plus, but not required.

ANNIE CANNON – female-identifying; 40s. Any race/ethnicity. Annie has inherent strength, presence, authority and stature, but also can crack a bit with care.

WILLIAMINA FLEMING – female-identifying; 50s. Any race/ethnicity. A grounding presence - smart as a whip and fun. A breaker of barriers, far before her time. Scottish dialect.

PETER SHAW – male-identifying; 30s. Any race/ethnicity. Peter has a mix of unassuming youth with the ability to mature and don a surprisingly staunch and hard exterior that we believe was there all along. Human connection and intimacy do not come easily for him.
