Seattle area actors are encouraged to apply.
We are dedicated to casting to honor the intent of the playwright—actors who identify as Asian American Pacific Islander are encouraged to apply and will be given full consideration.
Synopsis: As the Donnellys, a celebrated acting family, reunite to settle the sale of their Hamptons home, they uncover a serpent’s nest of secrets, disappointments, and unexpected romantic entanglements. Will Charlotte, the newest family assistant, choose to escape or be swept into the never-ending drama of Two Mile Hollow?
Note: Through the lens of the AAPI experience, Two Mile Hollow satirizes white privilege and the theater genre where affluent protagonists Tackle Problems And Uncover Family Secrets in a Big House by the Water While Drinking White Wine. We are especially interested in seeing who can take the play’s bitingly funny tone and ground it with sincerity and humanity.
Asian/Asian American/Pacific Islander (AAPI) includes people of mixed Asian American and Hapa descent.
Mary: Early 30s, woman, AAPI. A plainly lovely daughter of the family, loving, but neurotic, with a healthy dose of body dysmorphia, after years of being in the shadow of others and under the sway of a hypercritical mother.
Blythe Donnelly: 50-early 60s, woman, AAPI. The imperious Matriarch and second wife and widow to the long deceased Derek Donnelly, a great and famous actor. A study of cultural incompetence, Blythe unapologetically takes up all the space..
Joshua Donnelly: mid 40s, male, AAPI. Older stepbrother to Mary. He struggles with insecurities and mental health, being a mostly average man with a lot of privilege he’s done nothing notable with. Envious of younger brother Christopher. Falls in “love” with Charlotte. Can carry a tune.
Christopher Donnelly: Early 40s, male, AAPI. A rugged and handsome movie star, with deeply buried rage issues. The middle-child of the family and stepbrother to Mary. A charming and narcissistic target of many people’s desires, especially Mary’s.
Charlotte: Charlotte, late 20s, womxn, AAPI, Christopher's personal assistant. Smart, attractive, charming, scrappy but she hides it. She is enchanted by the glamorous world of the Donnellys, but knows it is all built on illusions. Sings well.
