ROLES
All characters in this play are female-identifying. Actors of all gender identities are encouraged to audition.
IRINA, any ethnicity, 20s-30s
The youngest, 20, a dreamer turned suffragette, earnest and determined. A modern ingénue.
This role is *cast. We are accepting submissions for an understudy. The understudy will also double as the understudy for NATASHA.
NATASHA, any ethnicity, 20s-30s
The in-law, 21, a social climber who is ambitious yet caring. Not the villain.
This role is not yet cast. We will also be casting an understudy who will double as the understudy for IRINA.
MASHA, any ethnicity, 20s-30s
The middle child, 25, a brooding poet and unhappy wife. Brilliant to a fault.
Note: Ideally, the actor knows how to whistle and play concert-level piano (and is comfortable with playing the piano live at various points during the show), but actors not in possession of these skills will still be considered.
This role is *cast. We are accepting submissions for an understudy. The understudy will also double as the understudy for OLGA.
OLGA, any ethnicity, 20s-30s
The eldest, 28, a mother hen who forgets to take care of herself. Wonderfully weird.
This role is not yet cast. We will also be casting an understudy who will double as the understudy for MASHA.
Wrokshop will be held July 10th, 12th, and 14th in person at a studio in Manhattan. This workshop includes an extra week of pay, but is *not mandatory to be cast in the Production.*
Rehearsals in-person begin September 25th and will be held at a studio in midtown Manhattan.
Production runs October 19th - November 4that The Flea Theater’s The Sam, located at 20 Thomas Street, Manhattan.
