SEEKING:

JULIA CHILD: Actor must be 5'10" (or a tall 5'9") or taller. Female/female identifying, 30s - 40s. An ebullient, good-humored, super-smart and quick-witted woman, awkward in her height and physicality; able to laugh at herself with self-deprecating charm, but it’s often a challenge. Serious-minded and thoughtful even as she crashes through the many phases of her life with a sense of fun and adventure, Julia struggles to find her place and voice in the world at a time when it was practically an act of bravery for a woman to laugh loudly and bawdily in a room full of well-heeled men. Curious and uncompromising, by her late 20’s Julia begins to grow weary and wary that she will not her calling and will end up back in the placid Pasadena of her youth working for her father- until when she finds herself in a relationship with a man named Paul she tastes French food for the first time - and then everything changes and all bets are off. NOTE: while the play is of course based on the real-life Julia Child, it concerns itself not with imitation or mimicry but with the evolution of a very real young woman named Julia as she finds herself and finds love and meaning - and who happens to grow up to become the Julia Child we know.

Rate of Pay: $1144/week plus pension and health benefits on a LORT-B Agreement.

Travel & Housing: Furnished housing will be provided by La Jolla, as well as roundtrip transportation.
