New Ohio Theatre (NYC)
New York, NY 10014
New Ohio Theatre, located in Manhattan's West Village, seeks conscientious, detail oriented, technical theatre interns for Ice Factory, our summer festival of new work, June 22 – August 16.
New Ohio Theatre serves New York’s most adventurous theatre audiences by developing and presenting bold work from today’s vast independent theatre community. We believe the best of this community, the small artist-driven ensembles and the daring producing companies who operate without a permanent theatrical home, are actively expanding the boundaries of where American theatre is right now and where it’s going. From our home in the historic Archive Building, the New Ohio provides a high-profile platform for downtown’s most mature, ridiculous, engaged, irreverent, gut-wrenching, frivolous, sophisticated, foolish and profound theatrical endeavors.
ICE FACTORY is the New Ohio's Obie Award-winning summer festival of new work. We present work by emerging and established New York City theatre companies. We pride ourselves on the aesthetic diversity of the work presented, while maintaining our standard of intelligent, imaginative theater. Ice Factory 2020 is our 27th anniversary, making us currently the longest continuously running summer theatre festival in New York City.
Ice Factory internships offer young theatre artists the opportunity to work with seven exceptional downtown theatre companies, on seven new shows, in eight weeks. Interns are given a travel stipend and are available for school credit. Former interns have gone on to work at top theatres in New York City, on Broadway, and around the country.
Ice Factory interns will work mainly in areas of technical and running crew, with responsibilities including hanging lights, running light and sound boards, wardrobe, simple construction, and as backstage crew. Other responsibilities will include front-of-house and concessions. Interns will rotate through all areas, gaining broad knowledge of a variety of technical disciplines.
