DESCRIPTION

Southern Plains Productions is seeking an experienced Technical Director for our upcoming production of The Last Five Years by Jason Robert Brown, presented at the Civic Center Music Hall – Little Theatre in Oklahoma City.

The Technical Director will oversee all aspects of the production’s technical needs, ensuring scenery, props, and technical systems are safely and efficiently installed and executed. This is a hands-on, collaborative role in a fast-paced production environment. Local applicants or those able to work locally are strongly preferred.

Production Details:

- Build Begins: May 14, 2026
- Load-In Begins: May 22, 2026
- Tech Begins: May 25, 2026
- Opening Night: May 29, 2026
- Closing: June 6, 2026
- Load-Out: June 7, 2026
- Venue: Civic Center Music Hall – Little Theatre (OKC)

Position Responsibilities:

- Supervise and coordinate all technical aspects of the production, including scenic construction, rigging, and technical installations.
- Collaborate with the director, designers, and production team to ensure design execution aligns with artistic vision.
- Oversee safety protocols and ensure compliance with venue regulations.
- Manage and coordinate crew assignments during tech week and performances.
- Assist in budgeting, scheduling, and specifying technical requirements for the production.
- Participate in pre-production planning and design meetings.

Qualifications:

- Significant experience as a Technical Director in theatre or musical theatre productions.
- Strong understanding of scenic construction, rigging, and technical systems.
- Proven ability to manage crews, schedules, and technical logistics.
- Familiarity with budget management and production planning.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
