We are seeking artists who possess imagination, flexibility and the desire to work with children and teenagers of varied ages in a creatively charged and artistically demanding, yet nurturing environment. Our teachers must be prepared to work as a member of a strong creative team, and to help our students achieve quality performances, while still giving focus to the artistic process.

The ideal candidate holds a BFA/BA (/MFA/MA preferred) and can teach a variety of theatre related disciplines to a wide range of ages. Our programs include Theatre Lab (ages 7-12), Little Theatre (ages 4-6) and MainStage (ages 8-18), and cover a broad range of disciplines, including Musical Theatre, Shakespeare, Improv, On Camera, Stage Combat, Sketch Comedy, Playwriting, Accents and Dialects, and more. We seek Teaching Artists who have experience in an educational theatre setting in which they have successfully balanced a sound creative process with a quality product.

PGT after-school programs take place at The Play Group Theatre’s facility in downtown White Plains, NY on weekday afternoons and evenings, between 4-9pm and some Sundays. The Spring season runs from February through June 2025.

Applicants should possess:

  • Minimum 3-5 years teaching and/or directing experience

  • excellent time management skills and the ability to juggle multiple projects at once

  • a desire to practice collaboration

  • grace and a sense of humor under pressure

  • a sense of playfulness balanced with a fierce work ethic

  • the qualities necessary to be a positive role model for children and teenagers

  • the ability to apply the “yes AND” rule of improv to the workplace

  • experience being bombarded with children and all their stuff and a good deal of noise, and thrive in that setting
