BLT+CO is seeking skilled and enthusiastic freelance scenic and technical draftspersons to join our tight-knit Fabrication Team. Draftspersons will work closely with Project Managers to facilitate the build and tech process of multiple concurrent projects. They are charged with converting client renders, plans, and elevations into detailed build drawings for the carpenters on the shop floor as well as the CNC router. We are seeking freelancers for remote and in-office drafting in our Secaucus shop. Pay is hourly based on experience and skill set, with OT possible. We are looking for freelancers interested in a long-term association and who are excited to grow with the company. BLT+CO is a diverse workplace. BLT+CO has been a leader in the live events industry for over 40 years, providing project management, staging, scenery, custom fabrication, and lighting solutions to our clients in the greater NYC area and beyond. Our clients range from local schools to multi-national corporations, for whom we provide design, fabrication, and technical services for Fashion Shows, Corporate Meetings, Product Launches, Trade Shows, Galas, Fundraisers and Awards Shows, Music Events, Film and Television, and indoor and outdoor events of all kinds.

Draftsperson Duties Include (but are not limited to):

• Conversion of client plans, elevations, and renders into detailed build drawings

• Collaboration with project managers to develop construction approaches

• Collaboration and communication with the Project Managers and other department leads, including questions, concerns, suggestions and general protocols of the build, especially in identifying efficiencies.

• Promote a positive, competent, collaborative, inclusive and respectful working environment.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

• 3+ years of scenic / technical CAD drafting experience

• High proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings

• Comprehensive knowledge of standard event and theatrical scenery construction practices and techniques

• Proficient in Vectorworks (preferred) or other CAD platforms

• Strong organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills

• Ability to collaborate with project managers to find efficiencies in the fabrication process

• Knowledge of CNC capabilities and Aspire software a plus

• The ability to drive multiple projects at once and to maintain a calm environment in a fast-paced, deadline drive industry

• The ability to quickly process updates, changes, and revisions

• Some late night/ weekend work as need arises

• Driver’s license and reliable transportation a plus
