Job Overview: New York City Center’s Education & Community Engagement team seeks a programming assistant to support planning and operations across the department. The Assistant is expected to demonstrate an interest in supporting programs across NYC and at City Center for artists, educators, and young people. They are responsible for assisting in the planning and execution of departmental programming, including coordinating communication and supporting the retention of City Center’s teaching artist roster, supporting on-site event management, building and sustaining relationship with schools and community sites, and supporting financial and database operations for the department. The Programming Assistant is expected to demonstrate a passion for education & community engagement programming while supporting City Center’s mission and our commitment to being an anti-racist organization.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with financial operations, including invoicing, payment collection, and monitoring of all payments for the department.
  • Contribute to the organization and implementation of programming, including student matinees, events for City Center teaching artists, in-school programming, family programming, and accessibility programming.
  • Assist with scheduling the teaching artist roster, including observations, end-of-year evaluations, residency programs and other professional development efforts.
  • Support communication and outreach efforts, including e-blasts, flyers, presentations, registration, newsletters, etc.
  • Provide support to managers to maintain relationships with new and existing program partners; research and support cultivation of new partnerships throughout the year.
  • Collaborate with the Education & Community Engagement team on the development and creation of Behind the Curtain Guides and Sensory Guides for all related programming.
  • Miscellaneous duties, as assigned.


POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Required Experience

  • 1+ year of experience working in education and/or community engagement, preferably in an arts setting
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Flexible availability to accommodate evening and weekend events as scheduled

Additional Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Familiarity with a range of art forms, including dance and musical theater
  • Familiarity with and comfort traveling throughout New York City five boroughs
  • Interest in working with learners of all ages and abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and timelines at once
  • Has a collaborative spirit and enjoys teamwork
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with demonstrated ability to build and manage relationships with community and cultural partners
  • Multi-lingual, a plus
