Based in Issaquah, WA, with operations in Everett, WA, Village Theatre is a leading producer of musical theatre in the Pacific Northwest. Through its Village Originals program, Village Theatre is nationally recognized for its contribution to the development of new musicals, having supported the creation of over 175 new works to date. Village Theatre also takes pride in nurturing tomorrow’s audiences through its Youth Education program KIDSTAGE, serving over 30,000 young people and their families annually.

The Production Manager provides comprehensive support for all Mainstage and Village Originals production activities. This position is responsible for coordinating administrative activities of the production department of the Theatre, including working with the Director of Production and Artistic Director to provide administrative and logistical support as necessary to ensure the smooth function of the department, with particular attention to communication. Production Manager serves as primary point person and supervisor for all Stage Department activities for Mainstage and Village Originals programming and also serves as primary production manager for Village Originals Festival of New Musicals and Village Originals Beta Series as well as other readings throughout the season. The Production Manager serves as administrative support for Director of Production and production department, including facilitating communication, coordinating calendars, handling correspondence, and other duties. Serves as primary point of contact for, and provides assistance and problem resolution to, Village Originals authors and guest artists.


· Collaborate with the Director of Production and Artistic Director as well as Associate Artistic Director to realize Village Theatre’s mission, Vision, and Values, set priorities, implement production sytems, and identify and resolve problems that are administrative in nature.

· Coordinate with other departments on facility use, production issues, internal and public communications, calendaring, and staffing.

· Act as a lead point of communication with creative teams, creating a welcoming environment, providing information about Village production systems and inventories, and setting a tone of artistic collaboration.

· Hire, supervise, schedule and support all Head, Lead, Key and overhire stagehands, electricians, sound engineers, and all other stage department production personnel to meet needs of Mainstage & Village Originals programming according to collective bargaining agreement with IATSE and within established budgetary and schedule guidelines.

· Coordinate and administer all Personal Service Agreements for Issaquah based stage department personnel.

· Maintain contact list of available stagehands, electricians, sound engineers, and all other production personnel, and work within structure of IATSE CBA and dispatch / hiring hall to ensure a sufficient pool to meet production needs.

· Code and process all payroll for the Issaquah-based Stage department and paperwork according to pay period deadlines.

· Ensure that all Issaquah-based Stage department employees are hired utilizing the proper HR paperwork and that all forms and HR paperwork are filed timely and correctly with HR.

· Coordinate and Schedule all Issaquah-based Stage department personnel utilizing online scheduling tools.

· Coordinate with IATSE dispatch to fill labor calls as needed for load-ins, prep weeks and transfers of productions to Everett in coordination with Technical Coordinator.

· Establish and administer regular weekly Issaquah Stage department staff meetings to address concerns, update schedules and further communications.

· Coordinate rental equipment pickup and return with appropriate department heads as needed.

· Establish, monitor and manage all Stage departmental budgets including labor and materials as they relate to the Stage department within established guidelines. Provide reports and status updates as required.

· Assist Associate Artistic Director, Director of Production and Director of Operations in negotiation and oversight of relevant artist agreements for Village Originals (Beta Series and Festival of New Musicals)

· Schedule and lead Mainstage Production meetings, and distribute notes to leadership in a timely manner.

· Maintain archival library of all Mainstage and Village Originals archival recordings and corresponding digital database.

· Actively seek out opportunities to incorporate underrepresented persons, such as minority and disabled artists/writers/technicians into the Village Theatre family. Report on these findings to Artistic leadership and Production Manager.

· In collaboration with Artistic Department, write, distribute, and collect contracts for New Works Festival (Authors, Directors, MDs, SMs) and Developmental Productions.

· In coordination with Director of Production, create and maintain contact sheets for Mainstage, Beta Series, Festival, Writers Residency and other events.

· In collaboration with Director of Production, create and maintain Production Calendars for Mainstage and Beta Series productions; book rehearsal and performance space using Arts Vision.

· Maintain and publish rehearsal room and performance space calendars for all departments.

· Schedule and lead production and design meetings for Developmental productions.

· In collaboration with Director of Production, schedule and lead production meetings for Mainstage producitons.

· Schedule and lead Developmental production meet & greets.

· In collaboration with Director of Production, lead Production department tech notes / tech rehearsals as needed for Mainstage and Beta Series productions.

· Respond to phone calls, handle correspondence, exercise utmost discretion and critical judgment in ensuring positive and productive communications as they relate to all Production activities.

· Communicate with payroll department to ensure all VO and Beta stage manager and other production contracts and payroll are executed properly.

· Carry cell phone and be available for Village Theatre business within reasonable time allotments.

· Travel to areas around Issaquah, Seattle, and Everett to run errands as productions require (supply runs, rental picks up and returns, etc.), sometimes using company van or small truck.


· Experience working in a theatrical production office or equivalant environment

· General understanding of the operations of a professional theatre company within the professional regional theatre environment.

· Dedication and to the principles of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility, with a desire to always be learning

· Familiarity with existing and emerging technologies and practices relevant to theatre and the entertainment industry.

· Experience managing and supporting a group of creative individuals from an empathic relations standpoint.

· Have a working knowledge of all stage systems including but not limited to rigging, scenery automation, sound, lighting, projections and wardrobe and be able to manage personnel in those areas.

· Strong written and verbal communication skills.

· Ability to manage competing priorities and projects and to prioritize efforts towards the best organizational outcome.

· Valid Drivers License required.

· Ability to climb and descend stairs and lift up to 20 pounds.

· Calm / Professional demeanor, diplomacy, discretion, patience, curiosity, and a sense of humor.

· Working knowledge of professional theatre producing practices and personnel management.

· Fluent in Excel, Word, Outlook, Dropbox .

· Exercise good judgment and discretion.

· Flexibility in projects and schedules.

· Attention to detail.Superior organizational and interpersonal skills.

· Ability to execute projects efficiently and according to schedule.

· Ability to work independently and to maintain a positive work atmosphere.

· Work schedule varies and includes frequent evening and weekend hours.
