DESCRIPTION

Primary Function

The Connecticut Association for the Performing Arts (CAPA) seeks a part-time Production Assistant/Runner to support our broad array of programming at the Shubert Theatre, ranging from Broadway Shows and Concerts to Board Meetings for our clients. The Assistant/Runner is a highly motivated individual responsible for various errands associated with the production and operations of various shows, reporting to the Operations Production and Facilities Manager

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides transportation for various personnel throughout the show day, such as hotel pickups and drop offs, using a personal vehicle.

  • Runs errands such as picking up and delivering department meals, groceries, package delivery, equipment rentals, coffee runs, etc.

  • Monitors parking reservations in front of the theatre to ensure tour buses and show trucks have easy access to the loading dock.

  • Assists production staff with general production-related duties.

  • Maintains cash and receipts for reimbursement and reconciliation.

  • Performs basic administrative duties such as making copies of printed materials, posting signs, and cash reconciliation.

  • Performs various special projects and tasks as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Friendly and personable, works well with others but also able to work independently.

  • Professional, punctual, reliable, and responsible.

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment.

  • Ability to collaborate and work as part of a team, exhibiting a participatory and inclusive work style.

  • Self-motivated individual who possesses a “can do/hands on” work style.

  • Consensus-driven yet can stand their ground on issues that are important to the continued success of the organization, even when popular thinking sways otherwise.

Credentials and Experience

  • 21 years of age or older.

  • Valid driver's license with safe driving habits, a good driving record, and fully insured.

  • Large personal vehicle, SUV or mini-van preferred, but not mandatory

  • Thorough knowledge of the local area is preferred, but not mandatory.

  • Operational cell phone.

  • Ability to work a long day (typical show day runs about 16 to 18 hours).
