JAY “THE SPORT” JACKSON – (Male-identifying character, late 30s/early 40s, Black) An ambitious,
charismatic, and outspoken African-American boxer who wants to become Heavyweight Champion of
the World.

WYNTON – (Male-identifying character, 50s, Black) Jay’s trainer and mentor, who has a deep
understanding of the racial and social implications of Jay's rise in the sport.

FISH – (Male-identifying character, 18-early 20s, Black) A young, talented boxer who spars with Jay
and later joins his team. Looks up to Jay.

Rheba who is fully embraced as part of the Sycamore household.

MR. KIRBY – (Male-identifying character, 50s/60s, any ethnicity) A wealthy and successful
businessman who has high expectations for his son, Tony. Possesses a rigid worldview that values
societal convention and status.
