DESCRIPTION
Blackboard Plays is partnering with Ghostlight Productions and Parent Artist Advocacy League (PAAL) to promote a platform for black theatre artists and creatives. Two playwriting festivals (Black Motherhood & Parenting New Play Festival and the Obsidian Theatre Festival) have Semi Finalists whose work we will be highlighting. Blackboard will be producing 4 of the semi-finalists for their 2025-2026 reading season. We are seeking performers for these virtual Zoom readings of their pieces and for all future Blackboard readings and plays.
We will be casting from this call’s submissions. We are looking for actors to be cast in either one or more readings.
Blackboard Plays supports the full spectrum of identities for performing artists. Actors of all ethnicities, physical abilities, sizes, ages and gender identities, as well as performers with disabilities, are encouraged to apply.

For consideration for the 2025-2026 projects, please submit by Monday, November, 24th by 11:59pm EST. We will still accept submissions on a rolling basis after the deadline for future consideration.
Location:
Rehearsal and the live Reading will be digital, via Zoom.
Rehearsal/Performance:
There will be one rehearsal prior to the live Zoom reading. This rehearsal will take place the week of the reading. The rehearsal will be four hours max.
The Fall and Spring live readings will take place on the tentative dates listed below:
