DESCRIPTION

The What Co., in collaboration with the CSA Program at the New Hazlett Theater, will be accepting submissions from Non-Equity actors for their upcoming premiere of PAPA. The production will be rehearsed in NYC in March and run April 7-8 at the New Hazlett Theater in Pittsburgh, PA.

PAPA is a new play based on writer Bailey Lee’s relationship with her Chinese-American grandfather, Hall, who journeyed as a teen from the farmlands of rural China to the hills of McKeesport, Pennsylvania. In her semi-autobiographical homegrown play, Bailey unpacks her memories, fantasies, and heartaches, tracing the complicated relationship between three generations of Asian-Americans.
