AUDITION NOTICE – CARMILLA: THE MUSICAL

About the Show:

Based on the 1872 gothic novella by J. Sheridan Le Fanu, Carmilla tells the haunting story of Laura, a young woman living in a secluded Austrian castle with only her father and housekeeper for company—until a mysterious carriage accident brings another young woman, Carmilla, into their lives. As the two grow closer, secrets begin to unfold in this queer vampire romance filled with magic, mystery, and intrigue.

• Age: 18+
• Gender: Male- or female-presenting
• Voice Type: Contralto / Baritone
• Description: A good-natured and loving father living in isolation with his daughter and housekeeper. Strong actor and musician required.

Also Seeking Musicians:

VIOLA & CELLO

• Looking for skilled players comfortable collaborating closely with a small pit ensemble.
• Ability to read music fluently and adapt to dynamic live theatre settings required.
• Prior pit or chamber experience preferred, but not mandatory.

🎶 Rehearsals begin November 2025 in New York City.

🎵 Audition / Submission Requirements:

Actors: Please prepare a 32-bar cut of a musical-theatre song in the style of Guettel, Sondheim, LaChiusa, or similar contemporary composer.

Musicians: Please submit a short performance clip or reel (1–2 minutes) showcasing tone, phrasing, and musicality.
