In this musical theater class you will be assigned a solo from a new musical. We will focus specifically on the acting challenges particular to musical theater, with emphasis on deepening character and learning new music. Every song assigned will come from a new musical in development. Some of the works presented may be written specifically for this class to workshop. Each actor will receive one (1) half-hour coaching from the writer(s) of their piece during the course of this class. The writers reserve the right to make revisions to the pieces based on what they hear and implement them. Writers will be announced shortly and will include writers featured on Broadway and off Broadway and at NAMT, NYMF, BMI, and more. You will not only work with your writer but watch five other writers work as well.

Sheet music and learning tracks will be emailed to you prior to the first class. Please come to the first class with the material fully learned.

Class size is limited to 12 students.

Class 1: Tuesday, May 17th - from 5PM - 8 PM (Discussion and individual work sessions on all music with Jamibeth and Andrew)

Class 2: Wednesday, May 18th - from 5PM-8PM (3 writers' work sessions-6 students)

Class 3: Tuesday, May 24th - from 5PM - 8PM (3 writers' work sessions-6 students)

Class 4: Wednesday, May 25th - from 7PM - 10PM (Final work sessions with Jamibeth and Andrew followed by a presentation with an agent guest)

Note: This class is 4 class sessions. The schedule is designed to accommodate working writers’ schedules. Everyone will work during the first class and the last class and then have an individual session with their writer. However, all participants may watch every class as there is much to be learned from every writer.
