DESCRIPTION

Project Title: Untitled Grief Musical
Producer: RYCO Theatricals
Composer: Daniel McKamey
Project Type: Musical with cast of 6 - 7 actors (pending rewrites)
Logline: This musical is about all the debris left behind after a traumatic event and how we cope with the tragedy of a collegiate mass shooting. Some of us try to make sense of it, some try to put the pieces back together, some run from it, and some hide inside or behind the escape of an addiction. But when they are together, they realize it’s easier to face head-on.

We are in search of a collaborating bookwriter and/or lyricist to add to the option of this fresh, new musical surrounding the truth of embracing grief. The show has been in development for a couple of years and is in preparation for the first production / industry reading this November. This writer would be someone who has indirect experience with gun violence trauma in their communities and/or the ability to approach a piece that clings to the hope of collective trauma to heal and find acceptance.

We would offer the bookwriter and/or lyricist a favored nations option equal to that of the composer of the musical and a collaboration agreement between the authors as we begin re-writes this summer. In your submission, please fill out our Google Form linked within with all your answers and two writing samples (10 pages or less) of your choosing.
