“Mirror, Mirror” – Open Call
“Mirror, Mirror”, an original musical in seven times (music and lyrics by Stephen Cornine, book by Stephen Cornine, Susan Bucci and Jon Horton, direction by Kristen Keim, music direction by Stephen Cornine), will be holding open calls at Theater for the New City (155 First Avenue, between 9th and 10th Street) on Saturday, March 21st from 7-10pm, and Tuesday, March 24th from 7-10 PM. Callbacks will be at TNC on Wednesday, March 25th from 6-8 PM. Rehearsals will be Tuesday and Wednesday evenings and Saturday afternoons at TNC, starting March 28th. Performances will be Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings and Sunday afternoons at TNC, from April 30th to May 17th (twelve performances in all). Equity and non-Equity performers are all welcome to audition. All performers will be compensated. “Mirror, Mirror” is being produced by the From Scratch Performance Group. All performers will get to sing one whole contemporary musical theater song (be reasonable!), and must be able to move very well. Character breakdown is as follows:
MICHAEL (lyric baritone or tenor), the present day. A writer, age 30.
VERNON WELLS (baritone), 1870. A businessman, age 40.
EMMA WELLS (mezzo-soprano), 1870. VERNON’s daughter, age 10.
KATHY (mezzo-soprano), 1968. An activist, age 9.
Young EMMA and young KATHY will be played by the same actress, preferably an adult.
JEFF (baritone), 1968. A war protestor, KATHY’s brother, age 18.
ELLEN (mezzo-soprano), 1968. A housewife, age 43.
HARRY (baritone), 1942. A factory worker, age 27.
EMMA WELLS (mezzo or lyric soprano), 1898. A recluse, age 38.
ROSE SORKIN (mezzo-soprano), 1911. A seamstress, age 18.
TRENT (lyric baritone), 1987. A stockbroker, age 30.
KATHY (mezzo-soprano), 1987. A school teacher, TRENT’s wife, age 28.
