Looking for performers for the world premiere production of “HAYSTACK” A folktastic new musical. Rehearsals will be done in accordance with the actors work/job schedules! They will likely look like this:
Plunk through week (light rehearsals, locking in music/table work etc.): July 29th-August 2nd
Rehearsal week: August 5-9th
Tech Week: August 10th-August 16th
Performances: August 16th or 17th at 8pm
SYNOPSIS: A Folk-tastic new musical about four misfit travelers who embark on the impossible journey to find The Needle in a haystack, literally. There, they endure larger than life challenges with an eclectic bunch of explorers, ex-celebrities, and miraculous beings, all while finding the truth about what and who they really need.
HAYDEN: Young boy full of heart, obsessed with exploring. Folk Tenor.
JACK: Manic Investment banker struggling to balance time between his job and his girlfriend, Mariah. Legit Tenor.
MARIAH: Housewife fed up with Jack’s dismissal of her. Smart and thoughtful. Operatic Soprano.
SOPHIE: The most beautiful girl in the world, but would like to be seen for more than her looks. Comic chic, loves to sew. MT Mezzo
Elders of the Stack:
AURELIUS (CAST): The most jaded member of the stack. Alone. Rock Tenor.
ROSS: Ex-Disney star, tired of the fame, ready for love. Character-Actor Tenor/Alto.
JASON : An old explorer that Hayden idolizes. Stoic, but warm under the surface. Lyric Baritone.
THE NEEDLE: Elusive, but do they want to be? Goofy asf. Vocal Part is irrelevant, it’s more of a vibe thing. You’re personifying a needle, run with that. Plays many other roles in show.
Please email us with a reel/cut of a song (MT or not) that is aimed at one of the characters in the breakdown. Please include your desired role in the subject line. Videos due JUNE 21st at 11:59pm. Please include your headshot and resume as well. Please send materials to [email protected]
This experience is meant to be fun and collaborative, so we are looking for people eager about developing new work and marking big choices.
Welcome to the stack…
