DESCRIPTION
“Jesus Christ Superstar” Local Auditions--LaComedia Dinner Theatre in Springboro, Ohio, is holding an open call audition for its upcoming production of JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR on Saturday, January 24th, at 9:00am at 765 W. Central Ave. Springboro, Ohio.
SEEKING (all ethnicities are encouraged to audition)
JESUS (Male) Rock Tenor. G5-A2. Leader of the twelve Apostles, a man, called the "Son of God" and the "King of the Jews".
JUDAS (Male) Rock Tenor.D5-D3. Arguably the antagonist of the show. One of the twelve apostles of Jesus; concerned for the poor and the consequences of Jesus' fame.
MARY MAGDALENE (Female) Exotic/Beautiful Belter. Mezzo-Soprano D#5/Eb5-F3. A female follower of Jesus. The role requires an actress that can show grace, stability, weakness and compassion.
PILATE (Male) Rock Baritone. B4-A2. Governor of Judea who foresees the events of Jesus' crucifixion from beginning to aftermath in a dream and finds himself being presented with that very situation.
KING HEROD (Male) High Baritone. G4-C3. The King of Galilee; Jesus is brought to him for judgment after first being taken to Pilate.
PETER (Male) Tenor. G4-G2. One of Jesus' twelve apostles; denies Jesus three times upon the night of Jesus' arrest to save himself.
SIMON (Male) High Baritone. B4-G3. One of Jesus' twelve apostles; urges Jesus to lead his followers into battle against the Romans.
CAIAPHAS (Male) Low Bass with Rocky Top. F4-C2(low C). High priest who sees Jesus as a threat to the nation.
ANNAS (Male) High Baritone. D5-G2. Fellow priest at the side of Caiaphas who is persuaded by Caiaphas into seeing Jesus as a threat.
ENSEMBLE (18 and older, all genders and ethnicities) The members of the ensemble need to be strong singers in rock/pop sounds and movers/dancers as they will be used in many capacities throughout the show.
Prepare 16 bars of music in the rock style of the show or a number from the Jesus Christ Superstar score. Be prepared for a dance call.
Rehearsals: March 16th, 2026-March 28, 2026(Mon-Sat 9am-6pm.)
Tech: March 30th-April 1st, 2026.
Performances: April 2-May 10, 2026. Thurs-Sun matinees and evenings.
Rehearsal and performance conflicts will not be accepted.
Performers are paid biweekly. Meal each performance, gym membership, worker's comp provided.
Non-Equity.
Although it is highly beneficial to attend the in-person audition, if you are unable to be present, you may send resume, headshot, 16 bars of music rock music in style of the show or a number from the show to submissions@lacomedia by Jan 24
Rehearsal period:20-30 hours per week for ensemble ($500/wk + housing), 35-40 hours per week for principals ($600-$700/wk + housing)
Performances: 25-28 hours per week for all
