The Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival Conservatory Company is a performance-based program for committed, early career actors considering joining Actors Equity Association, who have a passion for Shakespeare, and want to develop the skills necessary to create innovative, collaborative theater in extraordinary spaces. It’s an artistic home to grow and take risks. Our specialty is practical experience that provides our alumnae with a competitive edge.
This immersive program begins in April 2023 in Garrison, NY where Conservatory Company members will understudy and perform roles on HVSF’s main stage under the theater tent. Professional mentorship will be combined with supporting workshops in physical, vocal and imaginative exploration of Shakespeare’s text.
The HVSF Conservatory Company is an educational program with professional expectations. It requires artists who are eager to grow, motivated to work, and dedicated fully to the art.
Conservatory Company members will understudy lead roles and play lead and supporting roles in
Henry V and
Love's Labor's Lost. This season we are looking for some excellent and versatile singers/musicians of all vocal ranges who are good movers, and actors with combat experience.
See HVSF EPA notice for list of roles in season being filled by Equity actors. Many speaking roles will be covered by the non-Equity Conservatory Company.

Available Roles:
[PRINCESS / LOVE'S LABOR'S LOST; AS CAST / HENRY V]
Actively seeking diversity of every kind in every role. We strongly encourage BIPOC actors and actors of abilities and genders submit. 18 to 30 years old, all ethnicities female. Serious, smart, and carrying heavy responsibilities. She’s never gotten to simply “be”. Her friends are the people who know her best. NOTE: Female-identifying. Also, SINGER, possibly MUSICIAN
[JAQUENETTA /LOVE'S LABOR'S LOST; AS CAST / HENRY V]
20s - 40s. Actively seeking diversity of every kind in every role. We strongly encourage BIPOC actors and actors of abilities and genders submit. 18 to 30 years old, all ethnicities female. JAQUENETTA: She works in the local diner, and sometimes likes to set out bottle-caps with maple syrup in them, so the fruit flies and the ants can have a mixer. She’s a little strange, in a world of her own. Had what she thought was a fun, short fling with the good-looking older guy who lives in the King’s guest-house...didn’t expect the consequences, and would rather not think about it. NOTE: Female-identifying. Also, SINGER/MUSICIAN.
[KATHERINE / LOVE'S LABOR'S LOST; AS CAST / HENRY V]
20s/30s. Actively seeking diversity of every kind in every role. We strongly encourage BIPOC actors and actors of all abilities and genders to submit. Katherine is a lady attending on the Princess of France who was rather impressed when she first met Dumaine, and is much less so when he breaks his oath and falls in love with her. She is quick-witted enough to keep pace with Rosaline. Loyal to her mistress, she refuses to marry Dumaine so long as the Queen is mourning herself, giving him time to grow up.
[LONGAVILLE /LOVE'S LABOR'S LOST; AS CAST / HENRY V]
20s/30s. Actively seeking diversity of every kind in every role. We strongly encourage BIPOC actors and actors of all abilities and genders to submit. Longaville is a nobleman in the King of Navarre's court who eventually falls for the lovely Maria (of the Princess's followers). He wants to be Berowne. He's witty, too, as Maria recalls meeting him at a wedding. But he doesn't have Berowne's devil-may-care charm. SINGER/MUSICIAN preferred.
[DUMAINE / LOVE'S LABOR'S LOST; AS CAST / HENRY V]
20s 30s . Actively seeking diversity of every kind in every role. We strongly encourage BIPOC actors and actors of abilities and genders submit. 18 to 30 years old, all ethnicities male. The youngest of the the King of Navarre’s court, he looks his age. Good-looking and good-natured, he is not the brightest, though some of that is simply immaturity. He is an absolutely terrible poet, and inflicts his verses on Katherine when he falls for her, though he has the grace to also send her a present. SINGER/MUSICIAN
