BREAKDOWN

The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee

Rick Walters, director

First Rehearsal- May 27

Opening- June 11

Closing- July 3

Rona Lisa Peretti: Female presenting. The number-one realtor in Putnam County, a former Putnam County Spelling Bee Champion herself, and the returning moderator. She is a sweet woman who loves children, but she can be very stern when it comes to dealing with Vice Principal Panch and his feelings for her. Her interest in the competition is unflagging and drives it forward. B3 - F5

Mary Poppins

Nate Allen, director

First Rehearsal- June 10

Opening- May 27

Closing - Aug 2

WINIFRED BANKS (Female presenting, sings solo, many lines, light dancing) George's wife and Jane and Michael's mother. A former actress, she is a loving mother who is busy trying to live up to her husband's desire to only associate with "the best people" as well as be the model wife and mother. She worries that she's not up to these tasks but she discovers that she is. We are looking for a performer who makes strong, unique character choices both physically and vocally.

GEORGE BANKS (Male presenting, sings solo, many lines, light dancing) The father to Jane and Michael Banks, George is a banker to the core. Demanding "precision and order" in his household, he tries to be a good provider but often forgets to be a good father. His emotional armor, however, conceals a sensitive soul. This role requires an actor who can remain grounded and connected while being comically exaggerated with their physical and vocal performance.

MARY POPPINS (Female presenting, sings solo, many lines, good dancer) Jane and Michael Banks' new nanny. She is practically perfect in every way (and knows it, in a most delightful way). She is extraordinary, neat and tidy, and sometimes a little frightening but always exciting. The world interacts with her in a magical, but normal for her, way. This role requires an actress who can portray a strong, confident character who takes joy in everything she does.

BERT (Male presenting, sings solo, many lines, featured dancer) The narrator of the story, Bert is a good friend to Mary Poppins and possesses his own touch of magic. Bert has many occupations, including lamp-lighter, sidewalk artist and chimney sweep. Bert speaks with a Cockney accent. The actor who plays this role must display a relaxed charisma and charm, excellent in-character listening/reacting skills, and must be comfortable dancing solo.
