The Orchard Project is looking to expand our staff with the newly created Greenhouse Coordinator which will provide administrative, artistic, and management support to our Greenhouse Lab program. The position will work closely with the Artistic and Managing Directors and report to the Artistic Director.
Now in its third year, the OP Greenhouse is an accelerator for directors, writers, composers, choreographers, designers and other generative artists with a primary goal to form new relationships, develop new projects from those collaborations, and contribute to an exciting new generation of theater. The Greenhouse is made of brave and forward thinking individuals who are artists first and could fulfill a wide variety of roles on any individual project. The Greenhouse cohorts meet regularly for two years to develop pieces, share new work and derive inspiration from their Greenhouse peers. Membership in the Greenhouse peaks in one or two sessions for Greenhouse members at the Orchard Project summer laboratory in Saratoga, NY (once in year one, once in year two of each cycle if projects warrant). This residency allows members to become an integral part of the Orchard Project artist community. Members will also receive dramaturgical support, artistic match-making advice from the OP artistic staff, invitations to OP alumni shows in New York City, artist events, and more.
The Greenhouse Coordinator will:
Provide administrative support to the Greenhouse Lab including scheduling monthly meetings, communicating schedules to participants and staff, and coordinating project work time for the numerous projects supported in the Lab.
Act as point person at OP for all Greenhouse participants
Communicate project work goals and achievements to OP staff and leadership
Assist Artistic Director in running lab meetings, setting lab meeting agendas, and assigning project cohort groupings
Work to research and advocate for lab members in regards to extended opportunities to continue development of their Greenhouse projects and explore production options.
Work with Orchard Project staff in both cultivating and curating an annual outreach/application process for new members of the Greenhouse
Attend weekly OP staff meetings
During Saratoga summer residency:
Liaise with Company Manager to coordinate Greenhouse arrivals, departures, and housing arrangements
Schedule Greenhouse participant’s work time in Saratoga both for projects and for individual participants
Provide support for any artistic needs arising from Greenhouse projects
Work with Core Company Master Teacher and Core Company to match appropriate Core resources to Greenhouse projects and artists
Attend morning OP staff meetings and communicate Greenhouse schedule and plans to OP staff

This position is part time (approx 10-15hrs per week) from now to May 2021 and paid hourly. The position expands to be full time during the Saratoga residency period of June and early July 2021 and is paid a weekly salary for the full time weeks. The work in Saratoga is on site and housing, travel and meals are provided by the Orchard Project during this time. The OP staff are currently working remotely and the Greenhouse will begin convening remotely as well at this time. If shelter orders are lifted the Greenhouse meets at the OP offices in Manhattan.

The core activities of the Orchard Project are a series of accelerating residency and artist support programs that occur in New York City and Saratoga Springs, NY. Programs include laboratories for theatrical plays and musicals, episodic content, audio storytelling, and a world class apprentice program for young artists.
