Theatre Aspen, the award-winning professional theatre company located in the heart of the Colorado mountains, is accepting applications for a House Manager to join our summer staff. Situated in one the most unique destinations in the world, Theatre Aspen is the region’s most celebrated theatrical institution and has been a fixture of the community for over forty years, attracting a long litany of renowned performers.

Theatre Aspen’s House Manager is a seasonal Full-Time Position responsible for providing the essential leadership required to ensure a welcoming and professional experience for Theatre Aspen’s patrons and donors. This position is an important link for all departments and carries with it a substantial need for understanding, and adherence to, organizational hierarchy and appropriate communication pathways.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Training volunteers for Theatre Aspen and Theatre Aspen Education performances.
• Managing concessions, including but not limited to: staffing concessions shifts; maintaining concessions inventory including all ordering, receiving, picking up or scheduling of all purchased goods or merchandise; creating and maintaining daily concessions deposits, as well as revenue and expense reports; maintaining accurate attendance and sales records for every performance and providing pertinent reports to management.
• Coordinates performance timelines with stage management, including curtain speeches, intermission, and any post show talkbacks. Works closely with Box Office Management, Stage Management, and Production Management to assure an organized start-of-show for each performance.
• Maintains ticket-scanning equipment, hearing impaired devices, and walkie-talkies for communicating with stage manager and production manager.
• Completes and distributes house report for each performance via email citing events related to the specific performance, including concession sales, audience attendance, and any incidents that may have occurred.
• Provides leadership in emergency situations, including fire alarm, inclement weather warnings, and medical emergencies.
• Works closely with the Apprentice Coordinator, Box Office staff and the Managing Director to ensure proper staff and volunteers are in place for all performances.
• Aid and support with all events, rentals, or classes, held at the venue including but not limited to set up and break down of those events and volunteer staffing.
• Schedule, train and supervise all front of house ushers, concessions personnel, and show shuttle operators.
• Coordinate stuffing of programs with FOH staff/ushers.
• Maintain cleanliness/presentation of Hurst Theatre Lobby, House, Concessions and Plaza areas and the closing of the location following performances. This includes making sure all trash and recycling is secured by concessions staff.
• Meet all patrons’ needs as they arise, tend to any concerns and complaints by patrons or visitors. Work with administration and box office staff to constantly strive to improve the patron experience.
• Creating a welcoming environment for guests visiting the Hurst Theatre and surrounding park during the day by providing information about Theatre Aspen shows and more.
• Work with Event Coordinator and/or Director of Production to become apprised of any vital information pertaining to outside rentals (contact lists, daily itinerary, rental vendors, arrival times, etc.).
• Participate in the mounting and strike of the lobby at the beginning and completion of the season as necessary.
• Other duties as assigned by the Executive Producer and/or Associate General Manager as they pertain to House and Box Office Management.
• Works with Producing Director and Acting General Manager to determine public relations priorities and objectives for all aspects of the institution.
• Works with Producing Director and Director of Marketing to connect with community leaders for all events, sponsor sales leads, and local relationship building.
• Advises on local relationship implications for Theatre Aspen programs and policies.
• Assist with Theatre Aspen’s annual gala as needed.

This position supervises Theatre Aspen Apprentices, mentoring and training emerging talent within the field. The willingness to collaborate, instruct and provide guidance is an essential requirement. This position also supports the facilitation of the apprentice program and apprentice events.

Dates: June 8 – August 30, 2026
Pay: $900-1000 per week plus housing. Travel provided; additional funds for preseason work, as needed.
