PREPARATION
Please come warmed up and ready to dance; character shoes with heels, knee pads; and clothing that allows you to dance. Please also bring a short cut of a song (approx. 16-32 bars suggested) in the style of the show, as you may be asked to sing after dancing. Please bring sheet music. Audition pianist will be provided. Also, please bring a hardcopy of your picture and resume, stapled.

BREAKDOWN

FIDDLER ON THE ROOF

Round trip transportation is provided by A.C.T. of Connecticut on a daily basis (between NYC and Ridgefield, CT) in shared company vehicles for all rehearsals and performances.

SYNOPSIS: Directed by A.C.T. of CT’s Artistic Director Daniel C. Levine, this production of Fiddler on the Roof will be profoundly actor-driven, with a unique emphasis on the themes of “bearing witness” and “never forgetting.” Levine’s vision centers on the idea that this story is not just about the individual characters in each scene, but about the entire community, unified in their shared experiences of upheaval and resilience. By keeping actors on stage at all times, this production will establish a powerful sense of communal witnessing and collective memory, ensuring that the interconnectedness of each character’s journey is always at the forefront, thus allowing the audience to feel the weight of history and the enduring impact of these stories. The actors’ constant presence serves as a living reminder that every element of the narrative is crucial, reinforcing the deep cultural ethos of remembrance and resilience. Actors will be responsible for setting each scene and must be comfortable working on a turntable.

Actors must be comfortable working on turntable, as this may be used throughout the production.

SEEKING:
[ENSEMBLE / SINGERS] A diverse company of terrific singers who move very well (or dance well, a plus) to play various characters of Anatevka. Many ensemble tracks will understudy principal roles. Please be sure to review the synopsis of this notice, as it contains helpful context to the vision of the production. Principal understudies will be assigned to the ensemble players in advance of rehearsals beginning.
