Talent Compensation: $125 / day guaranteed

Location: Chicago, IL, Bronzeville and near the North Side.

Talent cast outside of Chicago area, the production will provide Lodging, Transportation and Travel. Please be advised on additional quarantine days may be applied.

The roles are open to both Union and Non-Union performers.

After Yang Yang defies her family’s gender expectations and her migration to the United States, she lives a life as an accomplished musician. However, when her longtime partner’s health condition worsens and makes Yang Yang rethink her future career plan.

Seeking:

Older Yang Yang: Asian Female, age 45-70. A Chinese immigrant, moved to the US when she was in her late 20s to pursue a career as a Cellist. She is independent, intelligent, but very reserve and kept things to herself. More emotional driven than rational. Defies her parents' expectation on her career path; now an accomplished aging musician, she faces the decision of renewing her (probably last) contract with an orchestra or dedicate more time to take care of her partner. Talent should be comfortable portraying character in a same-sex relationship (no sexual situation). Cello experience a plus, but not required. Talent does not need to speak Mandarin Chinese, all lines are in English and the creative team is open to accents / no accents. Kindly note location in submission note. This role is open to both Chicago local and Non-Local talents.

Maria: Any Ethnicity, Female, age 45-65. A frail looking woman suffering from Parkinson's disease. She is an intellectual, giving, warm, optimistic, and encouraging person. Yang Yang's partner. After discovering she has Alzheimer's disease, she tries to cope with the sad reality, and feels guilty that she would be a burden to her partner. Talent should to be comfortable in portraying same-sex partner (no sexual situation). Basic knowledge about string instruments is a plus but not required. Seeking Chicago local talent only.

 


COVID-19 Protocols: Includes but are not limited to: social distancing on set, PPE for cast and crew, individual meals/water provided, proof of Negative Covid Test Up to 48h prior to the start of production, quarantine for up to 72h prior to the start of production may be required, additional quick result Covid test might be required (production will cover the expenses)
