Company Manager Job Description

Theatre Aspen, the award-winning professional theatre company located in the heart of the Colorado mountains, is accepting applications for a Company Manager to join our summer staff. Situated in one the most unique destinations in the world, Theatre Aspen is the region’s most celebrated theatrical institution and has been a fixture of the community for over forty years, attracting a long litany of renowned performers.

Theatre Aspen’s Company Manager is a seasonal position reporting to the Executive Producer, and is responsible for providing the essential support required to maintain an efficient theatrical producing company, as well as a positive working environment. This position is an important link for all departments, and requires strong instincts for how to communicate within an organization.

The duties of the Company Manager are the following, but not limited to:

Hospitality

  • Meet and greet incoming designers, performers, crew and apprentices. Provide tours of facilities, assign and track keys, provides welcome packet including phone lists, “rules of the house,” rehearsals schedules, area maps, and local attractions.

  • Serves as liaison between company and theatre administration.

  • First emergency responder for company.

  • Coordinate logistics for company extracurricular activities (rafting trip, parties, etc.).

Housing, Travel, Meals, and Transportation

  • Arrange travel and assists business office with temporary local housing for incoming company, ensuring compliance with union requirements when necessary.

  • Facilitate the distribution of company bike fleet.

  • Coordinate ground transportation and car rental needs including but not limited to airport pick-up and drop offs, grocery and food runs associated with company members.

  • Set up and break down housing for seasonal employees, following individual lease agreement terms.

  • Liaison between landlords, tenants, and cleaning crews.

  • Maintain inventory of, and manage distribution of, household items for housing facilities before, during and after the season.

  • Facilitate company meals and craft services for rehearsals, techs, and special events.

  • Execute trade agreements with local vendors (ie: uses ad trade for company meals), responsible for tracking all trade usage throughout the summer season.

  • Applicants must have access to a reliable vehicle as frequent driving is required for this position. The company will compensate you appropriately for mileage.

Administration

  • Assist management team in onboarding process - welcome packet and orientation information.

  • Assist management team in collecting company members bios, headshots, measurement sheets, and distribute them appropriate departments.

  • Coordinate company involvement for external events (radio interviews, party performance, etc.).

  • Coordinate Youth Supervisor schedule if needed.

  • Assist with Theatre Aspen’s annual gala as needed.

Apprentice Program

  • Primary contact for Theatre Aspen Apprentices; organize and coordinate apprentice events

Dates: April 14 – September 17

Pay: $1,000 per week with housing and travel provided; additional funds available for pre-contract work as needed.
