Seeking an energetic and creative choreographer and teacher who can create age-appropriate dances for children ages 3-13. Must be open-minded and great with children. This is a collaborative position, as you will be working with multiple teachers for each class.
Duties during the semester include:
Choreographing 4-5 musical numbers per class, teaching choreo to children ages 3-13, collaborating with co-workers to create an appropriately themed show, leading warm-ups, introducing new vocabulary and dance techniques, creating a safe and fun-filled learning environment, etc.
Duties during the summer include:
Choreographing 3 musical numbers per week, teaching choreo to children ages 3-8, collaborating with co-workers to create an age-appropriate and themed curriculum, supervising children and guiding them in themed activities, leading warm-ups, creating a safe and fun-filled learning environment, etc.
CenterStage offers performing arts classes for children of all ages in New York City. All classes are taught by distinguished professionals in the music, dance, and acting fields. We offer classes during the Fall/Winter & Winter/Spring that culminate in a themed performance at the end of each semester. Our summer camp runs from June to August and focuses on a different musical each week. Some of our past themes have been Frozen, Singing in the Rain, The Magic Flute, and Hamilton. Our stars have the opportunity to learn about every aspect of theatre through games, arts & crafts, improvisation, outdoor play, and rehearsals that culminate in our end of the week performance. We strive to bring the performing arts into our community by sharing our passion for musical theatre with our shining stars!
