About the Play:
Written following Thatcher’s ascension to Prime Minister and the consequent shift in 1980s Britain from a socialist mindset to a more capitalist one. Caryl Churchill’s Top Girls is a bold, witty, and sharply political exploration of women’s ambition and the cost of success in a patriarchal world. The play moves between fantasy and realism — from a surreal dinner party featuring historical women to the gritty realities of 1980s Britain.
Strong ensemble collaboration and comfort with overlapping dialogue are essential.
British accents preferred.
