SEEKING
Equity actors for roles in American Shakespeare Center's 2025 Season (See breakdown).

The American Shakespeare Center (ASC) casts troupes of ensemble actors. All actors will be cast in each of the plays in a season of rotating repertory and each actor will play a variety of roles, large and small. Musical ability is a plus.

Actors of any gender identity, all races, ethnicities, ability and ages are encouraged to audition.

PREPARATION
Please prepare one Early Modern monologue, Shakespeare preferred. A brief showcase of musical ability is welcomed (and encouraged). If you are unable to attend the in-person auditions, you may submit a video submission to: [email protected] . Please put in the subject line: “[LAST NAME, FIRST NAME] - 2025 EPA SUBMISSION”. Please indicate which season you are auditioning for (Spring, Summer, Fall, or Holiday) or if you have open availability. Video Submissions will be collected through Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at 5:00pm Eastern.

LITTLE WOMEN by Louisa May Alcott, (new adaptation, rights pending)

SEEKING:
JO MARCH: is the hero of the play. A passionate, often wild, and non-conforming young woman who desperately wants to be a professional writer.

MEG MARCH: is the oldest sister of the March family. She is even-tempered, well-mannered, and kind. An “Angel in the House.”

BETH MARCH: Jo’s dearest confidant and the “heart” of the March family. Painfully shy, but pure of heart. A musician.

AMY MARCH: the baby of the family who grows from a vain, yet loveable little girl into a worldly, lovely, young woman. An artist.

ABIGAIL “MARMEE” MARCH: the mother of the March children. She is patience and love personified, but often with wicked glimmers of humor.

HANNAH: the housekeeper at Orchard House. She is often portrayed as Irish or Scottish and is a second mother and valued family member.

AUNT MARCH: the haughty, grouchy, great-aunt of the March siblings who really is a generous soul hidden underneath the grumps.

THEODORE “LAURIE” LAURENCE: the orphaned young man who lives next door to Orchard House. He is a surrogate brother, partner-in-crime, and lovably infuriating.

MR. JOHN BROOKE: is Laurie’s tutor and a good-natured, polite, resourceful sort of person.

MR. MARCH: the father of the March children who has gone off to war to be a chaplain. He is a local Reverend in Concord.

MR. LAURENCE: the grandfather of Laurie and special friend of the March siblings. He is also grumpy with a heart of gold.
