At Super Bowl XLVIII Renee Fleming will be the first opera singer in Super Bowl history to perform the National Anthem. With this divergence from previous performers, who include Kelly Clarkson, Christina Aguilera and Steven Tyler, among others, we wondered: Which Broadway star would you love to see in a Super Bowl halftime show performance?

Playbill.com polled our readers via Facebook and Twitter to see which Broadway superstars they would want to see perform at the Super Bowl halftime show.

Lindsay Wilshaw: Patti LuPone!

Debbie Parthe-Baron: Patti LuPone

Noor Hamdi: Patti LuPone because duh.

This two-time Tony Award-winning actress was most recently seen on the FX television series "American Horror Story: Coven." In addition to her Tony-winning roles as Eva in the orignal Broadway production of Evita and Rose in the 2008 revival of Gypsy, she has also been seen in Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street and Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, among others.

Jessie Rabbits: I'd like to see Barbra Streisand perform - that could blow the (nonexistent) roof off the bowl!

Streisand made her Broadway debut in 1962 in I Can Get It For You Wholesale. She is the only performer in history to have received an Oscar, Emmy, Grammy, Tony, Directors Guild of America, Golden Globe, National Medal of Arts, Peabody, France’s Légion d'honneur and the American Film Institute’s Lifetime Achievement Award.

Idina Menzel

Robert Schratz: Idina is the obvious choice.

Sara Coradi: Idina Menzel

Laura Beth Dailey: Idina Menzel!!!

Hunter K. Taylor: Idina doing a "Let It Go"/"Defying Gravity" medley.

Menzel made her Broadway debut in 1996 in Rent, for which she was nominated for the Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical. She won her Tony for her work in the international hit musical Wicked, and she will be seen this season in the new musical If/Then. She also provided the voice of Elsa in the 2013 Disney film "Frozen."

Aaron Tveit

Dan Lucio: Aaron Tveit

Krissy Delahanty: Aaron Tveit

Tveit, who starred in the film adaptation of Les Miz, has been seen on Broadway in Hairspray, Wicked, Next to Normal and Catch Me If You Can. The singer-actor, who also starred as Roger in the Hollywood Bowl production of Rent, played to a sold-out crowd early last year at 54 Below. Read the recap here.

Sierra Boggess

Maria Redwood: Sierra Boggess

Boggess made her Broadway debut as Ariel in The Little Mermaid in 2007. She has also been seen on Broadway in Master Class as well as in the 25th anniversary engagement of The Phantom of the Opera. She also portrayed Christine in the Phantom sequel, Love Never Dies, on the London stage.

Emily Rasch: This year, the cast of Jersey Boys!

Michael G. Baley: Agree with Emily. Definitely cast of Jersey Boys.

Jersey Boys opened in 2005 at the August Wilson Theatre, where it continues to play. This jukebox musical based on the music of The Four Seasons won four 2006 Tony Awards, including Best Musical.

Bernadette Peters
Andrew Eccles

R. Scott Reedy: Bernadette Peters, of course!

Robyn Thompson: Bernadette Peters.

Peters made her Broadway debut in 1967 in The Girl With the Freudian Slip as a standby. Since that humble beginning she has received three Tony Awards, multiple Grammy Awards, and has been seen in such hit shows as Sunday in the Park With George, Into the Woods and A Little Night Music, among many others.
