Erik Liberman, J. Bernard Calloway and More Take Part in Jan. 20 Concert Benefiting Disaster Relief for the Philippines
By Michael Gioia
An Evening of Music and Comedy: Disaster Relief for the Philippines is held Jan. 20 at Stage 72 at the Triad.
The evening, which begins at 9 PM, includes performances from singers Erik Liberman (Lovemusik), J. Bernard Calloway (Memphis), Melissa Van Pelt, Vanessa Dawson, Steven M. Goldsmith, Chris Critelli, Eliza Hayes Maher, Alia Bisharat and The Manhattan Dolls and comedians Rick Younger, Chris Griggs, Aaron Friedman and Carrie Gravenson.
According to press notes, "On Nov. 7, 2013 the Philippines was hit by Super Typhoon Haiyan, the deadliest natural disaster on record. It took the lives of over 6,000 people and displaced over 4 million people. The need for assistance and relief is still essential. So with this in mind, Broadway and Off-Broadway singers and NYC based comedians present an evening of entertainment to raise awareness and much needed funds for the relief effort."
Produced by Vanessa Dawson and hosted by Chelsea Piers, proceeds from An Evening of Music and Comedy benefit The Red Cross; a live auction will be held at intermission.
The Triad is located at 158 W. 72nd Street. Tickets are $10 in advance and $20 at the door; there is a two-drink minimum. For more information, click here.
