Bootleg Theater and Small American Productions present the world premiere of Eric Rudnick's comic thriller Day Trader, with performances beginning Jan. 11 and continuing through Feb. 16 at Los Angeles' The Bootleg Theater.

Directed by Steven Williford, the cast features Brighid Fleming (The Nether, Wait Until Dark), Tim Meinelschmidt (Coastal Disturbances), Danton Stone ("Mercy," "Hope and Faith") and Murielle Zuker (The Assassination of Leon Trotsky: A Comedy, Three Sisters).

"A comedy writer in a career freefall becomes convinced that he deserves more, and sets out to write his own Hollywood ending," press notes state. "Truth proves stranger than fiction as he implicates his family, his best friend, and a bewitching young woman to get what he thinks he’s got coming. Seduction, suspicion, and suspense become intertwined in a twisted tale of comic noir that leaves no one unscathed."

Rudnick's writing credits include The Edge of Allegiance, as well as the film "Hot Potato" and the TV pilot "Circus/Maximus."

The creative team includes Stephen Gifford (scenic designer), Jared A. Sayeg (lighting designer) and Michele Young (costume designer).
