Les Misérables will make its anticipated Broadway return in March. As the date swiftly approaches, Playbill.com has surfed the web for some of our favorite performances of "I Dreamed a Dream" from the musical.
The iconic ballad, performed by the character of Fantine in Les Miz, features music by Claude-Michel Schonberg and original French lyrics by Alain Boublil. The song was later translated to English by Herbert Kretzmer, and features orchestrations by John Cameron.
Throughout the years, "I Dreamed a Dream" has been performed all over the world on stage, in concert and on screen and television. Here are performances from Anne Hathaway, who earned an Academy Award for her performance in the film; Patti LuPone, who won the Olivier Award for her performance in the West End; Randy Graff, who originated the role on Broadway; Lea Salonga, who took on Fantine for the 25th anniversary concert; and many more.
