Elizabeth Stanley and Alysha Umphress Perform Songs by Ridiculously Talented Composers and Lyricists Aug. 30-31

Barrington Stage Company's Musical Theatre Lab presents the eighth edition of Songs by Ridiculously Talented Composers and Lyricists You Probably Don't Know But Should… Aug. 30-31 at 8 PM at Barrington Stage's Boyd-Quinson Mainstage.



Tony Award-winning composer-lyricist William Finn (Falsettos, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee) narrates the series, which features direction by associate producer Shakina Nayfack and music direction by Jeremy Robin Lyons.

Songs by Ridiculously Talented Composers and Lyricists features Elizabeth Stanley (Company, Cry-Baby) and Alysha Umphress (American Idiot; Priscilla, Queen of the Desert) with appearances by songwriters Nikko Benson, Noel Carey, Josh Freilich and Sam Salmond.

According to press notes, "Finn shares with the audience what makes a good lyric, why some work and others don't – you'll feel as if you're in a master class in songwriting taught by the master himself."

The composers and lyricists represented are Danny Abosch, James Ballard, Benson, Christina Capatides, Carey, Sam Chanse, Seth Christenfeld, Maggie-Kate Coleman, Freilich, Benny Gammerman, Emily Goldman, Benjamin Halstead, Oliver Houser, Joe Iconis, Michael R. Jackson, Anna K. Jacobs, Micah Joel, Jonathan Keebler, Bob Kelly, Chris Miller, Sara Nicholson, Jonathan Pearson, Brian Pugach, Bret Ryback, Salmond, Bryan Scary, Christopher Staskel, Elizabeth Suggs, Joseph Trefler, Nathan Tysen, Joel Waggoner and Finn.

BSC Musical Theatre Lab is under the direction of artistic producer of the MTL Finn, artistic director Julianne Boyd and managing director Tristan Wilson.

Other members of the creative team include lighting designer Robert Brown, sound designer Kaitlyn Kelly and stage manager Lisa Klages.
