Keep Me Posted, Solo Concert From Chicago's Nikka Graff Lanzarone, Offered Aug. 22 at Joe's Pub
By Michael Gioia
Nikka Graff Lanzarone, who has been seen on Broadway in Chicago and Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, offers a solo show entitled Keep Me Posted (a live rock documentary) Aug. 22 at Joe's Pub.
Written by Lanzarone and director Tim Drucker, the 9:30 PM concert features music direction and arrangements by Jasper Grant.
According to press notes, "A lifelong obsession with concert films and rock documentaries has left Nikka Graff Lanzarone (Chicago, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown) with this nagging thought: If you had cameras following you while you made a record, what would you say to them? Using the music she loves the most, from Talking Heads and The Velvet Underground to Fiona Apple, Bob Dylan, and Wilco, Nikka makes her Joe's Pub debut by attempting to figure out which life story to tell when there are six very different versions, all of them (somewhat) true."
The band for the evening includes musical director Grant on the piano and keyboard, Jared Schonig on the drums, Lorenzo Wolff on the bass, Adam Stoler on the guitar and Erica Swindell on the violin.
Lanzarone has also appeared Off-Broadway in Transport Group's Hello Again and Seussical at the Lucille Lortel Theatre.
Joe's Pub is located at 425 Lafayette Street. For more information and tickets, call (212) 967-7555 or visit JoesPub.com.
