George Street Playhouse will present David Ives' Tony Award-nominated Best Play Venus in Fur, the final production of its 2012-13 season, beginning April 23 in New Jersey.

The production, produced in association with Philadelphia Theatre Company, will be directed by Kip Fagan (Off-Broadway's The Revisionists) and continue through May 18.

Mark Alhadeff, who the was understudy for the original Broadway production, will portray Thomas, the playwright and director, and Jenni Putney, most recently seen in A Dram of Drummhicit at La Jolla Playhouse, will portray Vanda.

The play, according to George Street, "focuses on Thomas, a playwright who is making his directorial debut with his newest play, Venus in Fur, an adaptation of a scandalous Victorian novella, 'Venus in Furs.' He is at the end of a long day of fruitless auditions for the lead female role. With a crash of thunder, Vanda enters, and soon the lines blur between fantasy and reality as she auditions for the role."
